Join Fleisher faculty member and jewelry artist Maureen Duffy to learn about the process of making jewelry from sourcing to sales and exhibition. Participants in this quick but deep dive will meet Maureen at T.B. Hagstoz to learn about the tools and supplies jewelers use. They will then head to Fleisher where they will learn how to make their own rings with a stone setting. The last workshop session will meet at Tshatshke to meet with artist-jeweler and small business owner Maddy Hirsch to learn about her practices of exhibiting and selling work.

What you will learn:
1.Sourcing tools and materials for Jewelry
2.How to make a ring
3.Basic stone settings
4.Jewelry exhibitions and sales

Note that this classroom is accessible by stairs only; please contact Fleisher for more information

  • Participants in this class will make a personal ring with their choice of cabochon. We will start class at Hagstoz (709 Sansom Street. Phone: 215-922-1627) where participants can purchase all of the materials they need for this workshop including a cabochon of their choice. However, participants are not required to purchase supplies from this business and are welcome to purchase or source supplies elsewhere to bring with them on the first day of class.

The complete list of supplies for this workshop is below. Followed by other recommended jewelry and metal suppliers:

    Ring making supplies:
    • ring shank
    • bezel wire
    • cabochon
    • 1 inch x 1 inch 24-gauge silver sheet
