Ceramics for Mosaics: Tiles, Bas-Relief and More
Adult Class | This program is completed
This course will focus on using clay to create mosaic tile designs. Processes covered will be: creating textural tiles and stamps, designing a bas relief “puzzle” mosaic, modeling a tile prototype (and making a plaster press mold from that design) and designing a functional planter. We will use low fire clay, underglazes and top glaze coat to create these functional projects. Tile setting, grouting and finishing will be covered.
What you will learn:
1. How to interpret a bas relief design from a 2D image
2. How to use texture and relief techniques in clay
3. How to create, set and grout a ceramic mosaic panel
This is a 7-session course. There will be no class on Friday, May 3.
