Join us for this class, in which we will dive into the art of paper mâché. Students will learn the cartapesta technique and work on creating a medium-sized animal sculpture.

What you will learn:
1. Design an animal
2. Achieve a paper mâché covered volume
3. Use acrylic colors and brushes to give a finish

Please note the at the length of this class was changed from 8 to 7 sessions: All students have received refunds accordingly and there will be a make-up session on Friday May 3 from 5-8 pm.

Mauricio studied art at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. He has been highly influenced by the Mexican Surrealism movement and uses this point of reference to create large Papier-mâché sculptures that commingle craft skills with academics art practices. With 20 years of experience of working in this medium, he currently teaches various Papier-mâché workshop throughout the Philadelphia and New York City areas and participates in local craft fairs in both regions.
