With so much visual information all around us in the city, photographers work as editors to create interesting dialogue through our cameras. The Urban Vernacular class is a place to explore a project of your own, relating to the city, and edit it down to a portfolio ready for presentation. This class is open to any type of interpretation of the environment and will require lots of walking and interacting with the city.

The ideal person who wants to take this class is already comfortable using their camera, and comfortable processing the images on their own time. This can also be an opportunity to connect with others taking the class, and to share experiences. This class is for people experienced in editing their own photographs on their own time. There will be time to critique and share tactics within the class, in order to advance your practice.

What you will learn:

1. Establishing a statement of purpose and writing it out
2. Editing your photographs down to a series that can be presentable
3. Inspiration via lectures and books

Note that this classroom is accessible by stairs only; please contact Fleisher for more information.
