This mixed-media studio class explores the objects that surround us. Whether we are avid, active collectors or on a minimalist mission as humans, we accumulate, admire, save, and live with objects. In this class, students come to class with objects to consider, whether handed down from a loved one, found in a thrift shop, or picked up from a walk in the woods. Given a series of prompts and material demonstrations, the students will develop works in a variety of media to delve into the meaning, metaphor, and memories of their chosen objects.
The objective of the class is to tap into our understanding of ourselves and the objects we keep. It is designed to investigate through materials.
