Animation is a medium, not a genre! This course will give a deep grounding in the methods and principles of traditional animation. Throughout this class you will view short films, experiment with a variety of materials, participate in group discussions, and create a number of short films of your own devising.

What you will learn:
1. Expanded knowledge of the medium of animation and all its potential.
2. Understanding of the technical processes involved in creating stop-frame and cell-based animation.
3. Ability to analyze movement and convey emotion and meaning through a series of drawings.
4. Grounding in the process of creating a finished work from start to finish. This process will include idea gathering, writing, storyboarding, roughs, iteration, finals, and critique
