This class will provide you with an introduction to drawing the figure. Emphasis will be given to seeing and understanding proportion, gesture and light and shadow. You will learn to describe the direction of the light, and complexion. We will work with charcoal and then move to red and white chalks used in conjunction with colored paper. The instructor will demonstrate each new media as they are introduced. All levels of students will benefit from the stress on fundamentals of drawing the human figure.

What you will learn:
1. The observation and understanding of gesture in all aspects of the figure
2. Learning to see the direction of light in terms of light and shadow patterns
3. Observing the model's complexion as a relationship of skin color, hair color, and eye color
4. Seeing the three qualities of light: light, transition, and shadow

Please note: this is an 8-session course. Fleisher will be closed on January 16 and February 20 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and President's Day.
