Join me in drawing an infant figure (baby) in three classes. We will meet three times: once to sketch the face from the front, once to render their faces in profile, and in the last class we will learn to sketch the whole body.

We will use traditional proportions to guide us, but also discuss how these proportions may be adapted to include the beautiful variability of the human face. We will briefly discuss the work of da Vinci, Cassatt, and contemporary artists for inspiration. Students are encouraged, but not required, to "finish" the sketches we begin in class! Students can expect warm, responsive, and honest critique that points to both strengths and challenges in their work. Please be prepared to share your work in class, we learn so much from one another!

  • This is an online class hosted through Zoom. We recommend that you download the free Zoom application on your computer, phone, or tablet in advance of the first class. You will receive a confirmation email containing a link to join the course via Zoom. The same link will be used each week.
