Painting with dye allows you to get color and image on fabric without losing the beautiful texture of your cloth. Learn how to create thickened dyes, experiment with a variety of tools and processes for dyeing and painting on cloth, and create your own designs on fabric for fashion, decoration, or artistic purposes.

  • This is an in-person class which will take place in our building with strict social distancing protocols and reduced student capacity. Please see our COVID-19 community safety policies.
  • • 2-5 yards of natural fiber cloth (cotton, silk, or linen)
  • • 1-3 colors of MX fiber reactive dyes
  • • 1-3 colors of dyenaflow fabric paint
  • • Watercolor brush
  • • 10 inch embroidery hoop
  • • Pencil and sketchbook for notes

Marie Elcin has been teaching in both the children and adult programs at Fleisher since 2007. She has a BFA from Moore College of Art and Design and a Master of Art Education from Tyler School of Art, Temple University. She is a practicing fiber artist with a focus on embroidery, surface design, and printmaking.
