Fiber artists, quilters, and sewists will enjoy this opportunity to design and create your own fabrics filled with color, mark, and pattern. In this 4 session workshop, we will experiment with eco-dyeing, shibori indigo dyeing, and block printing. At the end of the workshop, there will be time for independent work and discussion on possibilities for using the dyed and printed fabrics in functional or artistic works.

What You Will Learn in This Course:
1. Students will consider design elements of pattern, mark, repetition, and composition in surface design.
2. Students will learn binding and folding techniques for creating pattern in indigo and eco-dyeing
3. Students will learn how to design and carve a linoleum block for motif printing.
4. Students will consider potential uses of their dyed and printed fabrics for functional or artistic works.
