Pop-up book structures can be used to make engaging works of art for any age- from greeting cards to animations to kinetic sculptures. In this workshop, students will learn the basic elements of pop-up paper engineering and how to combine them to create unique cards. Each class will focus on different mechanisms and when combined can create complex works of art.

  • This is an in-person class which will take place in our building with strict social distancing protocols and reduced student capacity. Proof of vaccination is required, and masks must be worn at all times. Please see our COVID-19 community safety policies.

  • Please note: this is a 3 session course. Fleisher will be closed on January 17 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.


  • • Scissors
  • • X-acto knife and blades
  • • Self-healing cutting mat, larger than 8.5x11"
  • • Cardstock, suggested: 8.5 x 11” 65 lb
  • • Colored cardstock
  • • Pencil, eraser
  • • Metal Ruler
  • • Lineco PVA Glue, 8 oz
  • • 3m Permanent Double-sided Tape

  • Optional Supplies

  • • Bone Folder
  • • Knitting needle for scoring or scoring tool

  • • Markers, colored pencils, watercolors or your preferred design tools
  • • Any designs, illustrations, drawings, sketches, photographs (glossy not recommended), magazines you may want to work with
