Working with the same model and the same pose for the duration of the workshop will give you an opportunity to study in depth the various stages of figure painting. We will work on white canvas studying the function of drawing and values in a composition. You will learn using the most valuable tools of an artist: “Relationship “ of colors, values, proportions, how the surrounding space influences the focal point, relationships of diverse consistency of the paint, and directional strokes. WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN THIS COURSE 1)“Relationship “ of colors warm and cool colors, saturated and dull colors, Light and Dark. values as a means to create light and space in your paintings. 2) How the surrounding space influences the focal point. 3) The importance of composition 4) Relationship of diverse consistency of the paint, directional strokes, painting application and etc.

  • This is an in-person class which will take place in our building with strict social distancing protocols and reduced student capacity. Proof of vaccination is required, and masks must be worn at all times. Please see our COVID-19 community safety policies.
  • • Palette for mixing colors
  • • Soft and medium soft brushes for working on a smooth panel or canvas.
  • • Palette knife
  • • Turpenoid or odorless turpentine
  • • Stand linseed oil and Damar warnish as medium.
  • • Paper towels or rags to clean brushes
  • • Cardboard tray to transport wet paintings
  • • Pencil and paper to take notes.
  • • CANVAS OR PANEL SIZE: no smaller than 18”x 20” no bigger than 28”x 30”

  • Winton/Windsor & Newton colors (40 ml tube) as follows:
  • • Titanium white
  • • Cadmium yellow light (or lemon)
  • • Light or yellow ochre
  • • English red or burnt Siena
  • • Cadmium red light
  • • Alizarin crimson
  • • Ultramarine
  • • Viridian or emerald green
  • • Burnt umber or oxide brown
  • • Ivory black

  • If you already have a color palette and brushes that you are
  • familiar and works for you, please bring your own familiar materials.
