Composition is a key subject in visual art and the principle of purposeful organization of any image. This course suggests numerous exercises aimed for students with some art experience to gain confidence in composition by analyzing step-by-step the artwork and the process of its creation from different angles. During the course, we will discuss perspective and its variations, arrangement of space, balance, movement, and color. Students will have a chance to analyze and interpret the composition of master paintings and how to apply these lessons to their own artwork. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN THIS CLASS 1. Learn the basics of the abstract (formal) composition 2. Get an understanding of the ways of expressing complex ideas via structures and relationships of the parts of the picture 3. Learn the basics of the color harmony 4. Learn the basics of the functional perspective 5. Learn how to apply anatomical knowledge to make up the figurative composition of the bodies in action
