Come learn how to observe and draw objects from life, in a realistic style. In this workshop your instructor will provide exercises which will offer you a step-by-step approach to learn observational drawing. Working in pencil and charcoal, you will learn skills to help you create a successful basic drawing. WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN THIS COURSE 1. To make accurate contour line drawings of objects 2. To identify forms and shapes 3. To understand the importance of object relationships 4. A special technique to establish scale and other relationships between objects

  • This is an in-person class which will take place in our building with strict social distancing protocols and reduced student capacity. Proof of vaccination is required, and masks must be worn at all times. Please see our COVID-19 community safety policies.

    Fleisher will be closed on January 17 and February 21 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and President's Day. No class will be held on those days.

  • • Drawing paper pad 14 x 17 inches
  • • Newsprint pad 18 x 24 inches
  • • Kneaded eraser
  • • Mars plastic eraser
  • • Pencil sharpener
  • • Graphite pencils, 1 each 2B, 4B and 6B
  • • Charcoal pencils, 1 each medium and soft
  • • Compressed charcoal, soft (2 to 4 sticks)
  • • Vine charcoal, soft (small pack of sticks)
