This six-session workshop with internationally acclaimed sculptor Julia Levitina will focus on learning about the fundamentals of composition and design by working with multiple figures in clay directly from life. It is an opportunity for working artists as well as for new students to immerse themselves in a study that is as traditional as it is contemporary, and a rare treat even for full-time studio artists. We will be working with multiple models who will be switching poses every session over the course of the six weeks.
Emphasis will be on observation, balance and proportion, as they relate to figure modeling from life, understanding and blocking in abstract shapes in order to create a vibrant and interesting figurative composition. The class will offer plenty of creative freedom, coupled with individual critiques to assist students in meeting their individual goals.
