To assist you in preparing for this class, we have provided a link to the setup / test pages from the conference provider. If you have never used this conference service before please click on the link below so that your PC or device will be ready to participate in this class.

This class will cover both needle and wet felting. We will use mostly wool but will also incorporate other natural fibers, fabric, and found objects. No previous fibers experience is necessary. Students will learn to make wearable items and felted sculpture.

This will be a social working environment. The first 30-45 minutes of each class with be dedicated to demonstration and discussion. The rest of class time will be for individual work on projects and to practice techniques.

  • This is an online class hosted through Zoom. We recommend that you download the free Zoom application on your computer, phone, or tablet in advance of the first class.

  • You will receive a confirmation email containing a link to join the course via Zoom. The same link will be used each week.
  • Start the term with these supplies:

  • 1. 1-2 lbs neutral color wool roving (black, white, or gray). The amount you’ll need depends on the size of the work you plan to make.
  • 2. A variety of colored roving for decoration and needle felting
  • 3. A set of felting needles
  • 4. 12” x 12” of 2” thick foam insulation board
  • 5. 1 thick plastic garbage bag
  • 6. 24” x 24” of bubble wrap
  • 7. 24” x 24” soft window screen
  • 8. Liquid handsoap
  • 9. 1-2 rolls of cheap, bulky yarn
  • 10. Optional: dishwashing gloves

  • Midway through the term students will need these supplies:
  • 1. Scrap yarn, fabric, beads, objects, etc. that you’d like to incorporate into your work
  • 2. Possible more roving, depending on how much you use
