Explore the hidden rules and variables found within some of the world’s most famous paintings. The class will be divided into lecture and practical hands on painting time. Emphasis will be placed on learning to see and learning what to look for in a work of art, to decipher what is the structure that makes a work of art successful. We will look for visual patterns, similar shapes and overall pictorial ideas that make a painting work and stand apart from the rest. Some artists we will discuss: Picasso, Matisse, Cezanne, Piero Della Francesca, Puvis de Chavannes, Chardin and more. This class will be useful for art enthusiasts and seasoned artists alike.?
