Getting ready to show? Prepping for an exhibition? Redecorating your house? If you want to learn how to present your artworks using high quality materials and methods, then this workshop is for you! This general picture framing workshop will give you the opportunity to learn and participate in the framing design, measurement, mounting, matting, glazing (glass cutting), and assembly of your own works of arty for a coffee shop. In addition, you will be exposed to archival framing methods, sources of materials, and specialty framing.
Instructor Rob Stauffer will provide you with his informative resource guide for your class and future framing projects.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN THIS COURSE
1. How to design picture framing to harmonize with your artwork
2. How to choose the right materials to frame your artwork
3. How to measure, mount and mat your artwork
4. How to cut and join frames for your artwork
5. Complete one or more quality picture framing jobs suitable for you to exhibit
6. How to make stretcher bars and properly stretch a canvas

  • This is an in-person class which will take place in our 3rd floor rear studio with strict social distancing protocols and a maximum of 8 students in the space. Students will be required to wear masks for the entire duration of the class. Please see our COVID-19 community safety policies.
  • • Please bring two pieces of artwork (up to 20 x 24 inches), ready to be framed in this workshop to the first class.
  • • All basic framing materials will be supplied in your lab
