To assist you in preparing for this class, we have provided a link to the setup / test pages from the conference provider. If you have never used this conference service before please click on the link below so that your PC or device will be ready to participate in this class.

In in online class students will learn the history and tradition of working with found objects throughout various movements, including but not limited to Surrealist Objects and Land Art. Students will be presented with a weekly prompt and encouraged to use found objects in new ways. There will be a focus on technical aspects of combining objects and ideas such as balance and composition within work.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN THIS CLASS
1. The historical and contemporary practice of found assemblage sculpture
2. Technique of joining and combining found materials
3. Composition in 3D forms

  • This is an online class hosted through Zoom. We recommend that you download the free Zoom application on your computer, phone, or tablet in advance of the first class.

  • Within 48 hours of registration, you will receive a confirmation email containing a link to join the course via Zoom. The same link will be used each week.
  • Suggested Basic Supplies Include:
  • • Various types of glue (5 minute epoxy, Crazy glue, Elmer's White glue)
  • • Thread and Needle
  • • Small nails
  • • Hammer
  • • Pliers
  • • Wire (Aluminum, Copper or Steel)
  • • Various Objects of Interest:

  • An email will be sent prior to each class outlining the theme for the week, allowing students to gather objects from their homes ahead of time.
