In this online class students will learn about the expressive qualities of
line drawing through the Renaissance technique of metalpoint drawing.
This 13th-century Italian style of drawing was a popular drawing style by many Renaissance artists including Leonardo da Vinci and Albrecht Dürer. We will cover primarily traditional ways of preparing surfaces and drawing with metalpoint, while also seeing how the methods have evolved throughout history.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN THIS CLASS
1. Students will gain confidence in line drawing
2. Students will understand the history of drawing materials starting from the Renaissance
3. Students will learn how to “read” Renaissance drawings with a more inquisitive eye
4. Students will learn Renaissance methods of going from drawing to painting
