To assist you in preparing for this class, we have provided a link to the setup / test pages from the conference provider. If you have never used this conference service before please click on the link below so that your PC or device will be ready to participate in this class.

In this online class you will learn how to set up your own jeweler’s studio space from home and design wearable works of art using the tools and equipment you have available to you. Every week there will be live demos that will be recorded and posted in our google classroom. Students will learn how to saw, pierce, solder, stone set, and carve wax. This class will be project-based allowing time for both beginners and intermediate students to watch demos specific to their needs for their designs.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN THIS CLASS
1. History of jewelry making and design basics
2. Setting up a jeweler's studio in your home
3. Cold connection techniques such as sawing, sanding, forming, and filing
4. Working with found objects and metals such as copper, brass, silver
5. Using hand tools

  • This is an online class hosted through Zoom. We recommend that you download the free Zoom application on your computer, phone, or tablet in advance of the first class.

  • Within 48 hours of registration, you will receive a confirmation email containing a link to join the course via Zoom. The same link will be used each week.
  • Bench pin and anvil
  • Sandpaper 1 sheet of each 180, 220, 400, 600
  • Parallel hole punch plier (if you have a flex shaft or dremel you can use drill bits)
  • Needle file set, 6 piece cut 2
  • Sharpie ultra Fine Point
  • Center punch
  • Rawhide mallet size 2
  • Chasing hammer
  • Riveting hammer round face
  • Saw frame 4?
  • Cut lube or a candle
  • 2/0 sawblades, 2 dozen
  • Paint stirring stick or similar
  • Metal for beginners:
  • 3” x 6” 20g copper and brass sheet, one each
  • 3’ 16g s wire for rivets
