Come learn how to observe and draw objects from life, in a realistic style. In this online class your instructor will provide exercises that will offer you a step-by-step approach to learn observational drawing. Working in pencil and charcoal, you will learn skills to help you create a successful basic drawing. Every week there will be drawing technique demonstrations and there will also be time to work from still life setups of your own.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN THIS COURSE
1. To make accurate contour line drawings of objects
2. To identify forms and shapes
3. To understand the importance of object relationships
4. A special technique to establish scale and other relationships between objects

  • This is an online class hosted through Zoom. We recommend that you download the free Zoom application on your computer, phone, or tablet in advance of the first class.

  • Within 48 hours of registration, you will receive a confirmation email containing a link to join the course via Zoom. The same link will be used each week.
  • • Drawing paper pad 14 x 17 inches
  • • Newsprint pad 18 x 24 inches
  • • Kneaded eraser
  • • Mars plastic eraser
  • • Pencil sharpener
  • • Graphite pencils, 1 each 2B, 4B and 6B
  • • Charcoal pencils, 1 each medium and soft
  • • Compressed charcoal, soft (2 to 4 sticks)
  • • Vine charcoal, soft (small pack of sticks)
  • • Ruler
