While other classes help you improve your technical skills, this online class will help spark your conceptual skills. Together we will explore key concepts and strategies that artists use for communicating ideas of beauty, emotion, experience, opinion, and narrative. Each week will focus on a different theme commonly found in art and design. We will view and discuss artworks, then experiment with a series of challenges to get you thinking and creating like an artist.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN THIS CLASS
1. Students will become familiar with a wide variety of artistic styles, themes, and genres.
2. Students will learn how to describe, analyze, interpret, and evaluate works of art in order to effectively critique.
3. Students will consider how design, composition, and artistic choices support meaning and visual communication.
4. Students will develop their personal voice and style in the creation of artworks.
