Working from the idea that observation is the first step in a solid art foundation, Introduction to Portrait Painting will acquaint young artists with the necessary basics of proportion, angle, value and perspective. Students will base their drawings on each other, themselves and a model in a course perfect for both experienced and novice painters.

  • Tuition includes a non-refundable $30 studio fee, which covers the cost of all art supplies for the class.
  • Please note that membership discounts do not apply to summer workshops for children and youth but we offer full-day discounts.

Marie Elcin has been teaching in both the children and adult programs at Fleisher since 2007. She has a BFA from Moore College of Art and Design and a Master of Art Education from Tyler School of Art, Temple University. She is a practicing fiber artist with a focus on embroidery, surface design, and printmaking.
