Explore screenprinting in this comprehensive one-day workshop. You will create images by hand drawing, tracing or simply cutting shapes. In this workshop you will learn how to prep your artwork and screens, how to use an exposure unit to transfer your images onto screens, how to mix your inks and most importantly, how to print onto paper. We will discuss other topics such as screen monoprinting, registration and color separation for multi-screen prints. We will end the day by learning how to edition our masterpieces and having a fun critique!

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN THIS COURSE

2. Work on a professional space and be social
3. Create art for your screens and expose it using our new state of the art equipment
4. Materials and tools needed for successful printing
5. Best practices to prepare your screens for printing on paper

  • 1. Artwork - there will be time to draw and create simple form artwork in the class using sharpies. I will be e-mailing you ahead of time with more details but keep in mind the size which should be smaller than 11” x 14”.
  • 2. Paper - Strathmore 400 Series Printmaking Paper Pad 11” x 14” or smaller is recommended for beginners (1 or 2 pads). 12 prints are what we will be aiming for.
  • 3. Ink – we have some communal inks but it is a limited selection. Best to purchase 8 oz Speedball Fabric Screen Printing Inks (fabric ink works for both paper and fabric and it is what we use in the studio) if you have a specific color in mind.
