Get acquainted with a variety of techniques that will help you see the figure in a new way. Learn to work with the quick and immediate medium of pen and ink, making decisive marks and letting go to explore the figure in a new way. Learn a variety of hatching marks and begin to incorporate watercolor in combination with pen and ink.
With a combination of in class projects and some homework assignments students will learn how to address formal elements such as line, shape, composition, perspective, light, shadow and volume.
Class time will be devoted to hands on drawing projects demonstrations and group as well as individual critiques.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN THIS CLASS
1. Drawing with pen and ink
2. Drawing from the figure and basic anatomy
3. Techniques for working quickly and decisively
4. Incorporating watercolor and other media

  • 1)A drawing or sketch book
  • News print pads will not be appropriate for this class.
  • 2) Ink pen or pens.
  • The instructor recommends Rotring Technical pens but any black pen that the student is comfortable with is fine including regular ball point pens.
  • 3) A watercolor set.
