Everyone can learn to draw, and this course takes you from the beginning, based on visual observation. Using studio set-ups, a variety of subjects, and the live model, you will develop skills in representing spatial relationships, including foreshortening and perspective, and the representation of mass and proportions on a two dimensional plane. A range of drawing media are used to represent contours, gesture, forms in motion, light and dark shape, and weight. Positive and negative space, context, and composition are stressed. Pencil, graphite, conte crayon and charcoal, fine point markers, pen and ink, and ink wash will be utilized. The course offers each student a solid foundation in drawing that can be applied to a variety of applications.
