Improve your figure drawing and sculpture through familiarizing yourself the basic human anatomy. The class will focus primarily on the skeletal structure and the effects individual bony shapes have on the form. Fast gesture combined with long poses with the live model will be used to help the student see clearly the distinctive characteristics of the anatomy of the figure.

What You Will Learn In This Class
1. Proportions of the figure structure
2. understanding of the skeletal structure
3. How different bones affect body masses and form

  • Supplies:
  • Charcoal (Blick extra soft vine)
  • Small limited set of pastels of your choice -- flesh tones. Prismacolor Nupastels.
  • Kneaded gum eraser.
  • PAPERS:
  • Essential for every class.-- newsprint rough texture pad -- 18x24.
  • For more substantial pieces used later in the course:
  • Canson-mi-tientes charcoal paper. Individual sheets. choice of colors up to you.
  • Hahnemuhle Ingres charcoal paper. Individual sheets. Choice of colors is up to you.
  • Drawing board and clips.
