In this class, we will focus on how to make dynamic small-scale sculptures and assemblages. Over the course of four weeks, we will employ found objects, plaster, and mixed media to create free-standing, wall-mounted, or hanging miniature sculptures. We will learn about the basic tenets of contemporary sculpture, such as line, form, color, texture, and scale, and how to use these principles to both identify and manipulate materials. Through demonstrations and hands-on projects in mold-making, adhesives, hardware, and hand-tool usage, this all levels class encourages experimentation and material curiosity.
