Students will sculpt from a live model, in the same standing pose, for the entirety of the course. Designed for the sculptor who has some previous experience with Figure Sculpture and wants to take a pose from gesture through completion. We will cover anatomy and portrait in detail. At the completion of the course, students will have a 24" sculpture sufficiently complete to make a mold and cast. An armature is required for this course, the sculptures will not be able to be fired. We will work on the concepts of composition and style, with the instructor working to each student's individual strengths.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN THIS CLASS

1. Sketches and maquettes in clay will be used to "warm up" before working on a longer pose.
2. Unity and fluidity, regardless of style, will be stressed.
3. Students will learn to plan and compose sculpture with a personal approach.
4. Students will be introduced to artists and different approaches to sculpting the figure.
