This workshop is a fun introduction to kiln-fired cast glass through tile making. We will cover the unique properties of the medium of glass and you will mold and cast a sculptural glass tile. We'll explore glass working techniques such as annealing, painting with glass powders, and using cold working equipment to refine your finished pieces. All levels welcome.


WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN THIS COURSE

1. Learn about the properties of glass and kiln-firing.
2. Learn to create a simple sculpture mold
3. Learn how to apply glass powders onto a mold surface and how to fill a mold with glass.
4. Learn how to do cold working on glass work after it has been fired for refine the finished piece.

  • The glass frit you will use to fill your molds will be available for purchase in the studio. The cost of this supply will depend on the size and design of your tile piece, but will generally range in price, up to $30.
