This class will introduce you to basic theories, principals, and techniques to successfully draw the figure. We will concentrate on improving your eye and knowledge through handouts, note taking, demonstrations, and lots of drawing from a live model. There will be one-on-one critiques, group discussions and dialogue to help improve your drawing skills.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN THIS COURSE
Gesture drawings, long-pose drawing, drawing from multiple view points, composing multiple figures on the page, discussing methods and materials, etc. These class skills will prepare you for many of the other classes at Fleisher such as painting, printmaking, sculpture, and collage.


  • START THE TERM WITH THESE SUPPLIES:
  • • A newsprint pad, suggested size 18" x 24”
  • • A sketchbook, suggested size 8" x 10”
  • • Pencils HB, 4B, 3B
  • • Kneaded rubber eraser

  • OTHER SUPPLIES TO BE DISCUSSED ON THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS:
  • • Soft vine charcoal
  • • Charcoal paper pad
  • • Toned charcoal paper
  • • White chalk, or conte crayon
  • • Pastels
