Explore new ideas in a supportive and fun environment. This class is best for the painter who has had at least one painting class and knows how to use their paint and brushes. It offers technique suggestions inspired by contemporary and historical examples of abstract and intuitive painting. The instructor will present regular slide shows to expose students to new ideas and inspiration. Classes in the first half of the session will include demonstrations and techniques along with opportunities to experiment. Classes in the second half will focus on creating a series of your own paintings. You will be given as much (or as little) support and encouragement as you need in completing your series. The instructor encourages students to have fun while learning to make the work they love.

Many of the techniques that will be shared are appropriate for acrylic or watercolor. However, students are welcome to use oil paint in they prefer. They should just note that not everything shown can be done in oil paint.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN THIS COURSE
1. How to explore painting ideas and have fun doing it.
2. New techniques for working intuitively or abstractly
3. How to make decisions when working intuitively or abstractly
4. Develop an effective vocabulary for discussing intuitive and abstract painting
