This workshop serves as both an introduction to and exploration of watercolor. Intended as a foundation level course we will examine basic topics of design and color theory, and how they relate to representational and abstract picture making. Learn useful techniques like wet in wet, graded washes and dry brush as well as experimental methods for creating texture. Knowledge of drawing is helpful but not required. Work from photos, still life, and sketches to plan and create your own watercolor paintings while learning or reviewing design principles. Beginners will gain basic skills and knowledge of watercolor and intermediate and advanced students will have the opportunity to review techniques and explore a personal approach to watercolor painting.
