Have you ever wanted to learn screenprinting, a versatile and quick form of printmaking? In this workshop you’ll learn to transfer your designs and sketches to a film positive, burn it to a screen and register and print multiples on paper or fabric. Our studio uses non-toxic water-based inks and cleaning techniques. I’ll show you how to use hand-cut adhesive stencils, hand-drawn screen filler stencils and photo stencils in you work, building up rich and full images. You’ll mix colors, use inks and additives, and layer inks to build up transparent and opaque color.
We’ll also visit the Print Study Room at the Philadelphia Museum of Art to see screenprints from their collection: WPA, Warhol and more!

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN THIS WORKSHOP

1. Students will be able to prepare images on screens using adhesive stencils, filler stencils, and photo stencils
