Learn the fundamentals of figure drawing through exploring the body's structure, proportion, and gesture. Discussion on basic anatomical structures combined with direct observation with live models will round out this highly energetic course. As the class develops, we will explore the use of conte crayon and more substantial heavy rag papers.

What you will learn in this class?
1. Fitting the whole figure form on the page
2. Comfort with the drawing medium at hand
3. A basic grasp of proportions and knowledge of bodily landmarks

  • For the first day of class have these items:
  • • A sketchbook*
  • • 18" x 24" Newsprint paper *
  • • Charcoal*
  • • Kneaded rubber eraser*
  • Midway through the semester you will need these supplies:
  • • conte crayon
  • • Pastels
  • • Heavy rag paper
