This course will provide a firm foundation in color theory. Topics will include qualities of color, methods of creating contrast, color illusions, and physical and optical color mixing. Students will develop a handbook of color exercises for future reference.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN THIS COURSE
1. Students will understand the difference between hue, value, and chroma to identify, compare, and contrast color qualities.
2. Students will be able to accurately mix colors using warm/cool primaries.
3. Students will understand how to use color to create mood and represent emotion.
4. Students will be able to use color to create illusions of depth, transparency, and reflectance.
5. Students will create a personal color handbook/manual to use for future reference.
