Tap into your creativity and discover the artist in you! Using painting, collage, drawing and mixed media, you'll be guided by our renowned instructors in exercises that will introduce you to the basics of visual art and design. At the end of the workshop you'll walk away with your very own 11x14" collage on paper.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN THIS COURSE
1. Mix colors and create textures in paste paper
2. Consider how to use the elements of shape, color, and space and the principles of balance and proportion to create abstract compositions
3. Combine mixed materials in an original work of art

  • • Apron or work clothes
  • • Recommended but not required: x-acto knife/blades, cutting mat, materials for creating textures (onion bags, corrugated cardboard, palette knives, etc.), personal collage materials (painted papers, sheet music, lace, postcards, scrap papers, etc.)
  • • Additional supplies are included in the studio fee

Marie Elcin has been teaching in both the children and adult programs at Fleisher since 2007. She has a BFA from Moore College of Art and Design and a Master of Art Education from Tyler School of Art, Temple University. She is a practicing fiber artist with a focus on embroidery, surface design, and printmaking.
