This workshop will introduce you to principles and elements of drawing using traditional drawing materials. Through the use of line, mark-making, value and tone, students will develop the ability to translate shape, volume and space onto a drawing surface. Concepts of perspective and proportion will be studied to aid in the translation of the three-dimensional world onto a two-dimensional picture plane. Students will also be introduced to ideas of composition, lighting and different papers and drawing supplies.

1. An introduction and detailed explanation of drawing/studio materials
2. An introduction to four classic techniques of drawing
