This class looks at works of art that historically resituate the significant contributions of women as makers. These re-evaluations concern formidable obstacles women artists had to overcome, such as oppressive cultural contexts, discrimination and legal hurdles. Each week the class will examine artists and artworks through topics such as race, disability, sexuality and gender.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN THIS COURSE
1. Discuss and explain historically significant works of art produced by females and sexual minorities
2. Analyze relationships among content, context, and style in works of art
3. Enhance visual literacy and critical thinking skills
