Through exercises and longer drawing assignments, you will learn to accurately see and depict the 3-dimensional world. This class focuses on the foundations of perceptual drawing: contour, shape, value, gesture, perspective and proportional relationships. You will learn the process of starting and developing both line and tonal drawings using pencil and charcoal. Additional, emphasized concepts include “working from big to small,” and balancing close perception with measuring to bring both life and accuracy to a drawing. You will work from projected images, still life and the figure.
