In order to draw well, the artist must "see" - edges, relationships, light and shadow, negative spaces and shapes. In this basic drawing class, you will have a chance to sharpen your perception and begin to develop a keen eye! Gain confidence in your drafting skills through engaging warm-up rituals and observational drawing exercises. Gesture drawing will be practiced to see holistically and draw expressively. Color, though not always associated with drawing will be introduced to capture excitement and atmosphere. Critical thinking and generating creative ideas will be engaged through group discussions and individualized feedback from the instructor. You will have plenty of time to experiment with assorted drawing media and tools including graphite, Conte, charcoal, pastel, pens, and brushes.
