Anyone can learn to draw, including YOU! Through exercises designed for absolute beginners, this class demystifies drawing and equips any student with the basic skills to draw what they see. The class also provides an excellent foundation for other artistic mediums, such as painting, photography, and sculpture. We'll focus on seeing with a keener eye and using measuring techniques to achieve accurate proportions. You will work from projected images and still life.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN THIS COURSE

1. Keener eye for contour, shape, proportion, and value relationships
2. Confidence using various measuring techniques to achieve accurate proportions
3. Process of drawing and sketching deconstructed, confidence to maintain an independent drawing practice
4. Confidence manipulating various drawing materials, including graphite, vine & compressed charcoal, kneaded and hard erasers

• Participants must have a valid Fleisher membership.

  • • Mars Plastic or Pink Pearl eraser*
  • • Pencil sharpener*
  • • Graphite pencils, 1 each 2B and 4B*
  • • A Soft charcoal pencil*
  • • Compressed charcoal, soft (2 to 4 sticks)*
  • • Vine charcoal (small pack of sticks)*
  • • Ruler*
