This workshop is designed for you to learn from the artwork that you have already made in other classes, or on your own at home. Bring the good, the bad, and the ugly—and you will learn tremendous things from your own painting practice; you will begin to see failure as an agent that promotes tremendous growth.
You will need to bring 5 to 10 of your paintings–these paintings can be finished, or in progress. You will also need a notebook each week to take notes.

The workshop is structured as a series of questions that will allow you to see your work ia different light, and learn from it. By the end, you will have a strategy to keep developing as a painter and be more confident in your choices. After all, there are no bad paintings, only unexpected surprises!

What will you learn in this workshop?
1. Learning to constructively critique your own work
2. Gaining appropriate vocabulary to help describe and analyze paintings
3. Learning to identify unsuccessful paintings and become aware of the weaknesses and strengths in your work
4. Learning how to develop your work technically and stylistically
5. Learning to develop a vision that agrees with your personality

This is not a studio course, it will focus on conversation and critique.
