This workshop is for beginners and beyond who want to draw from a nude model. The particular emphasis will be on helping you achieve an accurate and satisfying linear representation of a model’s pose by studying the “mechanics” of the human figure.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN THIS WORKSHOP
1. You will not learn to draw the human figure, but how to learn to draw. The ability to draw the figure is an ongoing lifetime undertaking.
2. Using gesture, contour and geometric shapes, the student will learn techniques for capturing foreshortening, weight and proportion, an understanding of the figure’s characteristic movement and sensitivity to how lines express qualities of flesh, muscle and mass.
3. We will examine some examples by artists known for their extraordinary figure drawing skills. What are their habits and what can we learn from them?
4. Finally, we maintain a sense of humor about our successes and near misses!
