Create art via observation, memory and imagination! Students will be guided through thumbnail drawings to a completed painting. Participate in discussions of master artist’s sketches, as they relate to the final artwork; explore creating art through interpreting music and sound; and learn how to expand your creative process to express the world the way you understand it.

All approaches from realistic to abstract are welcomed!

What will you learn in this class?
1. Gain an understanding of visual memory, and how it operates during observational drawing, as well as during imagination.
2. Experience using a drawing diary to plan paintings.
3. Completion of at least one planned painting, from thumbnail, through crit, to relative completion.
4. Developing a sense of how your own drawing in paint leads to ideas.
