The class will introduce you to a variety of technical processes, concepts, and design tools essential for understanding and working with fine metals. Learn about material sourcing and the cultural and historical aspects of jewelry and small-scale metals as a form of artistic expression. Some basic techniques that will be covered include: sawing, filing, riveting, simple forming, texturing, stone setting, and finishing.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN THIS WORKSHOP
1. Cultural history of jewelry and small-scale metals
2. Design concepts as they pertain to wearable and decorative metals
3. Working with specialized tools
4. Basic techniques: sawing filing, riveting
