In this course you will learn some basic skills needed to reveal the mystery of an art form that can be seen from 360 degrees.
Since the dawn of our consciousness we have been fascinated with our own human form. The figure has been used by every culture to express a limitless variety of subject matter and concept in art.
You will learn to anchor the figure to the core elements of the anatomy itself. Focus on gesture, form, and clay techniques.
Some experience with drawing, painting, or sculpture from live models, is helpful but not mandatory.

What will you learn in this workshop?

1. Basic knowledge of the anatomy of the figure.
2. Understanding the figures full range of motion and related anatomical nomenclature.
3. Knowledge of the skeletal landmarks, proportion, balance, and gesture of the figure, and clay modeling techniques.

  • Required supplies for this class:
  • • Full figure armature, torso armature or board for modeling *
  • • 12 inch calipers
  • • Flat 6 to 8 inch flat modeling tools and any other clay tools desired
  • • Wire clay cutting tool
  • • Plumb bob (or large fishing weight) w/ string
  • • Small modeling or dental tools for finer details
  • • Small spray bottle for water
  • • Trash or dry cleaner bag
