Artist Book Forms (one-day workshop)

Come learn some playful book structures in this fun one-day workshop. We will be looking at books as artworks themselves. We will cover the basic hand skills of cutting, folding, and gluing various materials. We will also go over book anatomy, and sources for materials/tools.
• Pencil
• White eraser
• Metal ruler
• Scissors
• Olfa cutting knife or X-acto with extra blades
• Bone folder
• Self-healing Cutting Mat
• Stiff bristle brush – for gluing (at least .5” can be synthetic)
• Binder clips – at least two medium-sized
• Glue stick or Double stick tape
• Triangle (not 100% necessary, but it can really help)
Optional Supplies
• Any special decorative paper you'd like to use
• Any collage materials you'd like to use

Valeria Kremser
Valeria Kremser is a bookbinder, artist, and educator, born and raised in Philadelphia. She works in book conservation at the University of Pennsylvania and teaches children and adults all over Philadelphia and surrounding areas. She is one of the co-chairs of the Delaware Valley Chapter of the Guild of Book Workers, and in her free time, she makes and collects miniature books.
