012 At the Movies-Abe Lincoln, Leading Man
In-Person | Registration opens 8/5/2026 9:00 AM CDT
This installment of At the Movies will examine the Hollywood portrayal of the country’s 16th President, Abraham Lincoln, in two landmark films released 72 years apart: the 1940 adaptation of Robert Sherwood’s award-winning play Abe Lincoln in Illinois, starring Raymond Massey; and the 2012 Steven Spielberg directed film Lincoln, starring Daniel Day-Lewis in an Oscar winning performance. Our consideration of these two films and the manner in which Lincoln is portrayed will coincide with the historical course on Lincoln presented by Larry Desotell.
